In 2023, Shelly Kapoor Collins, Founder of the Shatter Foundation, Shatter Fund and Partner at SWAY, will partner with the U.S.-India Alliance For Women's Empowerment to produce an in-person inaugural event featuring Government and Private Sector Leaders to spotlight the critical need to economically Empower Women + Girls in India and to foster their innovation and entrepreneurship skills. The Shatter Foundation is proud to be a member of the U.S.-India Alliance.
The journey to start the Shatter Foundation began when Kapoor Collins (a serial tech entrepreneur) founded the Shatter Fund in 2017 to invest in female entrepreneurs at the intersection of tech and commerce. To launch Shatter Fund, she held the first-ever SHATTER SUMMIT in San Francisco to amplify women leaders' voices.
Fast forward to March 2021, and Collins formed a partnership with Stefanie Beasley and Carolyn McCusker, founders of Beasley McCusker Communications (BMC) and their platform, the Silicon Valley Women's Leadership Initiative (SVWLI), to produce a new series of Shatter Summits. At the March 2021 Shatter Summit, Kapoor Collins announced the formation of the SHATTER FOUNDATION. The Shatter Foundation is rooted in the belief that women and girls are the pathways to global economic success. Entities of talent in the US and abroad are overlooked due to a lack of exposure to what is possible and limited access to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Shatter Foundation provides the first step on the entrepreneurial journey of young girls in underserved communities by providing education around the business side, micro-finance, and applying our niched expertise of investing in the important emerging market of female entrepreneurs. Kapoor Collins notes, "We provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the foundational skills to start businesses through our investment expertise and by connecting them to our vast network of mentors, advisors, and financial resources necessary to scale the innovation economy."
On March 10, 2021, the 3rd SHATTER SUMMIT was held. The landmark virtual conference drew over 750 guests from around the globe to learn from best-in-class leaders in the fields of FINANCE, VENTURE, TECH, HEALTH, and SPORTS. Collins and BMC produced the 3rd SHATTER SUMMIT - INVESTING IN WOMEN ON A GLOBAL SCALE on October 20, 2021, featuring outstanding leaders including former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, former Deloitte CEO and WNBA Commissioner Kathy Englebert, MSNBC Host of Morning Joe Mika Brzezinski, and Halogen Ventures Founder Jesse Draper.
